PUGET SOUND MUSIC FOR YOUTH @ 2:30PM

Mission
OUR MISSION IS TO PROVIDE A SAFE AND EDUCATIONAL PLACE FOR YOUNG MUSICIANS TO MEET OTHER MUSICIANS AND ENHANCE THEIR KNOWLEDGE OF MUSIC THROUGH PRACTICE, PERFORMANCES, AND COMPETITION.

We are primarily a volunteer driven, and a proud part of the musical fabric of the region. We teach youth how to work as a musical team and above all have fun while doing what they enjoy. “AGE IS A BARRIER THAT CAN BE OVERCOME WITH THE HELP OF A YOUNG MUSICIAN.”

PSMFYA started out as a group of young people with the South Sound Blues Association, we were playing music, singing, and swing dancing at the 2009 Daffodil Parade where we took a first in our division. Jumpin Josh was our featured guitarist on that float. In June of that year we became the Puget Sound Music For Youth Association (PSMFYA), to date we have formed over 35 bands and have seen over two hundred young musicians cross our stages. The musical teams of kids range in age from 11 to 18. We have Blues, Rock, Hard Rock, Classic Rock, Country and Metal. At any given time we can have 10-15 kids looking to play in a band. Our goal is to increase the number of kids in bands and get more kids involved to create more musical teams. And within a short time the bands are created. These kids play awesome music and perform around the Puget Sound Region.

80’s INVASION @ 9pm

80’s INVASION takes the music of the ’80s very seriously. This is the music we listened to on our original Sony Walkmen, the bands whose names we stenciled on our pee-chees, jeans, Nikes, and in some cases, all over town. When MTV first came around, these were the bands whose videos we watched all night at our friends’ houses, and the first concerts we went to. Some of our most memorable experiences (ahem) occurred listening to these songs. This music matters and we care enough about it to do it right.

RUSTY CLEAVERS @ 9PM

Often described as the Old Crow Medicine show meets the Ramones, The Rusty Cleavers’ live shows have always been fist-pumping barn burners. Audiences can’t help but cut loose as they pummel their string instruments with rhythmic abandon, layering husky harmonies over top that swell to bursting. It seems only natural to combine the worlds of bluegrass and punk, and The Rusty Cleavers do so magnificently, with all manner of mandolin, banjo and backyard clatter coming together in a cacophony of spirited group-singing and hoops and hollers.

THE HIPSTERS @ 9pm

The Hipsters: Nothing but solid ground pounding, hip grinding, ass shaking rock and roll provide the base for this band. Years of history between the foursome has given them perspective on all types of music….but a fresh attack on music, as well as a true enjoyment of working the crowd keeps the atmosphere alive and electric.

Solid dance rock that you know and love…High energy atmosphere that you want to be a part of…its hot rock for cool people, and you need to get some.
