Casamigos Tequila – Latest Prices and Guide

About Casamigos

The Casamigos tequila brand began in 2013. The founders are longtime friends George Clooney, Rande Gerber, and Mike Meldman.

The tequila was intended to be a house tequila for the trio and their families, but it has since become a best-selling and award-winning tequila.

In 2017, they sold the brand to the world’s largest spirits company, Diageo.

The tequila is formulated to be the most smooth and best-tasting tequila that does not need salt or lime to make it palatable.

Throughout many taste tests over the years, the company found the perfectly balanced flavor that is Casamigos tequila.

Composition

According to the brand’s website, the reposado, Blanco, and Anejo variations are made with agave that is 100% Blue Weber. This agave has been aged 7-9 years and is roasted for 72 hours in a traditional brick oven.

The mezcal variety contains agave that is 100% Espadin aged 8-9 years and cooked in a traditional method. This traditional method requires that the pinas are split and laid for 4-6 days in earthen pits.

These tequilas are on the sweeter side. They are also more watery than one may expect, but that is part of their formula to create a smooth-tasting tequila that can stand on its own.

The care that goes into making these tequilas is apparent by their manufacturing process and their commitment to transparency of the production process on their website.

Casamigos Tequila Buying Guide

Now that you have all of the information on each type of product they sell, you may be wondering which one you should buy.

That depends on the type of tequila you like.

Blanco and mezcal are clear colored varieties which means that they are a lighter flavor. The reposado and Anejo types are darker in color. The addition of a light caramel flavor makes it taste denser.

Regarding price, this is a mid-range tequila brand. You can find other tequilas with similar profiles for cheaper, but the pull to these tequilas is their smoothness.

If you like to enjoy tequila on the rocks or in light mixed drinks, then you may want to check out Casamigos’ offerings. You can buy online or in-store. They have a feature on the website to help you find places that sell their tequila. Oftentimes, it is sold in almost any liquor store.

This is a nice mixing tequila as well because it is light-bodied. You can find recipes on their site and online that call for Casamigos specifically, but feel free to add this tequila to your favorite at-home cocktail recipe.

The Best Way(s) to Drink Casamigos Tequila

Since Casamigos is formulated to be a lighter drink, drinking it on the rocks or straight is a good option. You can also make great cocktails with it or even enjoy it in a simple tequila soda.

Some great cocktail options for the Blanco variety include various margaritas, tequila soda, a mimosa or bellini, and more. It is a great light alcohol.

Cocktail options for the reposado formulation are margaritas, an Aperol spritz, a mai tai, and an old fashion.

For the Anejo, you can make a great manhattan or an Anejo sour. With the mezcal, you can enjoy a nice margarita or a colada.

Casamigos has many recipes on their site for these drinks and more in an easy-to-find drop-down menu.
