Herradura Tequila – Latest Prices and Guide

About Herradura

Founded by Felix Lopez, the Herradura tequila distillery began in 1870 in Amatitan, Jalisco, Mexico. Lopez’s family continued to run the distillery for the next 125 years, ensuring quality tequila and lasting products.

Today, the Grupo Industrial Herradura still produces the same tequila in the same distillery in Amatitan. However, they now operate under the Brown-Forman US beverage company.

The name ‘Herradura’ is Spanish for ‘horseshoe,’ referring to a story about a horseshoe Felix’s son Aurelio found on the distillery property.

Composition

Every tequila sold by the Herradura company has 100 percent blue agave. They all have a sweeter flavor than other tequilas and often have notes of vanilla and citrus.

Herradura Tequila Buying Guide

Each Herradura Tequila offers a unique experience to those who partake in each bottle.

Herradura Silver

A classic Blanco tequila, Herradura Silver is one of the least costly of its fellows but doesn’t sacrifice taste. It’s smooth and doesn’t have a huge bite to it, leaving you instead with the taste of agave, vanilla, and citrus.

Herradura Reposado

Similar to Herradura Silver in cost, Herradura Reposado boasts better excellence and quality than competing brands. Aged for months longer than the industry standard, Herradura Reposado is a reposado tequila carrying flavors of spice, vanilla, and butter to complement the overall agave.

Herradura Anejo

A company favorite, Herradura Anejo provides the kind of smoothness and flavor that makes it enviable across the board. With notes of toasted oak, dried fruit, and spices, this amber-colored nectar is the epitome of raising the industry bar.

Herradura Ultra

On the slightly more expensive side and aged twice as long as its counterpart Herradura Anejo, the Herradura Ultra strives to exceed already high expectations. Completely clear due to a specialized filter, this Ultra Anejo is unique in more ways than one.

Along with its trademark Herradura smoothness, the Ultra has such flavors as dried fruit, wood, vanilla, and caramel added to the overall agave taste.

Herradura Aniversario

Hands down the most expensive product Herradura produces, the Herradura 150 Aniversario celebrates one hundred and fifty years of tequila excellence. Aged for little more than eight years (100 months), in barrels of American White Oak, Aniversario embodies the class and quality of the Herradura name for generations.

Herradura Legend

Herradura Legend is more pricey than your standard Herradura Tequila, but that’s because it embodies every ounce of its name. Herradura Legend undergoes a special aging process with charred American White Oak barrels to instill an even greater flavor than the standard Anejo tequila.

With top-quality ingredients added to the mix, Herradura Legan gives the ultimate experience in smoothness, with a particular oaky flavor not found anywhere else.

Herradura Double Barrel Reposado

Another specialty of the Herradura brand, the Double Barrel Reposado is a pure Casa Herradura creation. After a unique two-barrel aging process, the tequila’s flavor is impossible to replicate anywhere else.

Depending on the size, Herradura Double Barrel Reposado is the least expensive choice (350 ml.) or amongst the average cost (750 ml.). Either way, it’s worth a try.

Herradura Seleccion Suprema

Another pricey addition, Herradura Seleccion Suprema increases the smoothness to offer you an almost creamy experience with each mouthful. Earning many worldly accolades, the tequila presents the taster with a perfect flavor of agave, vanilla, and dried fruit. This, along with the distinct lack of harshness, provides an experience worth every penny.

Herradura Plata

Similar to the Herradura Silver, the Herradura Plata has a pure agave taste and smooth texture. A fabulous tequila for sipping or cocktails, the Herradura Plata embodies the spirit of its company by living up to the standards of quality and excellence.

5 Best Things to Mix with Herradura Tequila

  • Lime Juice: Lime, like any sour citrus, pairs perfectly with tequila
  • Agave Nectar: Agave will enhance the natural agave flavor in the tequila, offsetting any harshness.
  • Grapefruit Juice: Again, citrus works really well with tequila. More than that, the sourness of the grapefruit will bring out the natural sweet agave flavor of the tequila.
  • Club Soda: The bubbles in a club soda can help balance the traditional harshness of tequila. Plus, the minerals in the soda will help bring out subtler flavors in the tequila, like hints of vegetables, dried fruit, or wood.
  • Jalapeno: Pairing something spicy with tequila will make it that much more enjoyable and also bring out buried vegetable tones.
